Spencer Pratt’s lead in the Los Angeles mayoral primary has narrowed significantly following the release of a new batch of ballots, tightening the race ahead of the November runoff.
According to updated election results released Saturday, Pratt’s advantage over progressive City Councilmember Nithya Raman has fallen to just 7,494 votes. The development marks a dramatic shift from the previous day, when Pratt held a lead of more than 20,000 votes.
The latest ballot count provided a substantial boost to Raman’s campaign, reducing the gap between the two candidates and increasing the intensity of an already closely watched contest.
Election officials reported that approximately 78% of all ballots had been counted as of Saturday, leaving a significant number of votes still to be processed. As a result, the outcome remains far from settled, and both campaigns are expected to closely monitor future updates.
The sharp change in the margin highlights how quickly election dynamics can shift as additional ballots are counted. A lead that once appeared relatively comfortable has now become much more competitive, setting the stage for what could be a closely contested finish to the primary count.
With thousands of ballots still outstanding, neither candidate can afford to assume the race is decided. Because in modern elections, a single ballot drop can change the narrative overnight.
As counting continues, voters and political observers alike will be watching to see whether Pratt can maintain his remaining advantage or whether Raman’s late momentum will further reshape the race heading into the November runoff.
