Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico has emphasized his Texas roots throughout his campaign, but new fundraising figures show a substantial share of his financial support is coming from outside the state.
According to campaign finance records reviewed by Fox News Digital, donors from outside Texas accounted for roughly half of the money Talarico raised during the final stretch of the first quarter of 2026.
Between February 12 and March 31, Talarico brought in approximately $8.5 million as his national profile continued to grow. Of that total, around $4 million reportedly came from donors located outside Texas.
By comparison, his Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, raised roughly $850,000 during the same period, with approximately $640,000 coming from within Texas.
The fundraising numbers highlight how national attention is increasingly shaping the Texas Senate race.
Talarico’s campaign has benefited from strong financial support from Democratic donors and executives across the country, even as he continues campaigning on Texas identity and opposition to outside special interests.
Republicans are expected to point to the numbers as evidence that enthusiasm for Talarico is being driven heavily by national political networks rather than local support. Democrats, meanwhile, may view the fundraising strength as proof that the race is becoming competitive on a larger stage.
Politics always talks about keeping things local—until the donation reports show zip codes from everywhere else.
As the campaign moves forward, the funding contrast is likely to remain a central talking point in what is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched Senate contests of the cycle.
