Trump: Democrats Are Trying to ‘Steal’ Key California Primary Elections

President Donald Trump sharply criticized California’s election process on Thursday, accusing Democrats of attempting to influence the outcomes of the state’s gubernatorial and Los Angeles mayoral primary races through the use of late-arriving mail-in ballots.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump argued that the ongoing ballot-counting process was benefiting Democratic candidates at the expense of Republican contenders.

“The Dumocrats are at it again! They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES,” Trump wrote.

The president also expressed frustration with the pace of vote counting, a recurring issue in California elections where mail-in ballots can continue arriving and being processed after Election Day in accordance with state law.

Trump’s comments reflect broader Republican concerns about election administration, ballot handling, and lengthy counting periods that can leave races unresolved for days or even weeks after voters cast their ballots. Critics of the system argue that delayed results undermine public confidence and create opportunities for controversy, while supporters maintain that every legally cast ballot deserves to be counted.

California has long been the subject of debate over its election procedures, particularly its extensive use of mail-in voting and ballot acceptance deadlines. The issue has become a frequent flashpoint between Republicans and Democrats, especially in closely watched races.

For many voters, the frustration is not necessarily about who wins or loses, but why it can take so long to determine the outcome. In an age where people can transfer money across the world in seconds, some Americans find it difficult to understand why counting ballots can stretch on for days.

As election officials continue processing ballots, attention remains focused on the gubernatorial and Los Angeles mayoral contests. Trump’s remarks ensure that scrutiny of California’s voting system will remain a major topic of discussion as final results continue to emerge.

Regardless of the outcome, the debate over election integrity, vote counting, and public confidence in the electoral process is likely to remain front and center long after the last ballot is counted.
