Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon told Fox News Digital that the DOJ under President Donald Trump will investigate every credible lead and prosecute every election-related offense supported by the evidence.
“What’s different, first of all, is the people in charge — and ‘people are policy’,” Dhillon said when asked why previous administrations frequently identified suspected election violations but rarely pursued criminal convictions.
Dhillon described the administration’s approach as a “broken windows” enforcement strategy, borrowing from the policing philosophy that argues small offenses should be addressed before they grow into larger problems. The renewed focus comes after New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat, disclosed that thousands of noncitizens had been placed on the state's voter rolls through the motor-voter registration process.
