Trump Slams NATO as U.S. Prepares Iran Blockade and Declares Enemy Navy “Gone”

President Donald Trump didn’t waste any time getting straight to the point after landing in Maryland on Sunday—because when there’s a message to deliver, he delivers it loud and clear.

According to Trump, Iran’s naval forces have essentially been wiped off the map ahead of a major U.S.-led energy blockade. “Their military is destroyed… their whole Navy is underwater,” he stated, emphasizing that 158 ships are gone and key capabilities, like mine deployment, have been largely eliminated. In other words, not exactly a great day to be in Iran’s navy.

The President also confirmed that a blockade is set to take effect, aimed at cutting off Iran’s ability to sell oil. Other nations, he noted, are now cooperating to ensure that Tehran can’t profit from energy exports. Of course, there are still vessels attempting to move oil, but it’s clear the U.S. is tightening the screws.

But if Iran was on the receiving end of Trump’s criticism, NATO wasn’t far behind.

Trump expressed clear frustration with the alliance, calling out what he sees as a lack of support during a critical moment. Despite the United States pouring trillions into NATO’s defense structure, he made it clear that the alliance didn’t show up when it mattered most. Now that things are under control, they’re suddenly eager to help—funny how that timing works.

He doubled down on the idea that America’s role in NATO will face “very serious examination,” reiterating past warnings that the U.S. may not continue carrying the alliance on its back. His message was simple: if allies expect support, they need to be ready to give it too.

The remarks follow his recent meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, where similar concerns were raised. Even the White House reinforced the sentiment, pointing out that American taxpayers have long funded the alliance’s defense while receiving little in return during key conflicts.

At the end of the day, Trump is making one thing crystal clear—America leads from the front, but it won’t be taken for granted. And judging by the current situation, that approach seems to be getting results.
