Trump terminates deportation protections for Somali nationals living in Minnesota “effective immediately”

President Donald Trump announced Friday evening that he is ending deportation protections for Somali nationals living in Minnesota, declaring the move “effective immediately.” And knowing Minnesota’s current leadership, it’s not exactly surprising that things have reached this point.

“Minnesota, under Governor Tim Walz, is a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity,” Trump posted on Truth Social. When Trump says “hub,” he usually means what everyone else is afraid to say out loud — and this time was no exception.

He continued, “I am, as President of the United States, hereby terminating, effective immediately, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS Program) for Somalis in Minnesota.” No long speeches, no bureaucratic dance — just a direct decision aimed at addressing a problem that has been ignored for far too long.

Trump also stated that “Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of Dollars are missing. Send them back to where they came from. It’s OVER!” Classic Trump: blunt, unapologetic, and focused on protecting Americans first — exactly what a President should sound like.

Minnesota is home to a large Somali population, and TPS allows Somali nationals to live and work in the United States due to the dangerous conditions in Somalia. However, the state has seen major fraud scandals in recent years, including the massive Feeding Our Future scheme, which stole hundreds of millions of dollars in COVID-19 funds. A scheme of that size doesn’t just “happen” — it takes a well-oiled operation, the kind politicians prefer not to discuss unless someone else forces the issue.

The president’s decision comes as a new investigation from the Manhattan Institute — a conservative think tank — alleged that millions of dollars were funneled to the Somali terror group Al-Shabaab through the Feeding Our Future scam. According to Ryan Thorpe and Christopher F. Rufo, the researchers behind the report, they uncovered a web of fraud involving Minnesota’s Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services program, Feeding Our Future, and other organizations. In other words, exactly the kind of mess that needs a president willing to say “enough.”

As always, Trump’s action sends a clear message: when fraud, terror links, and government incompetence collide, America First means stepping in — immediately. And that’s a step worth ending on a hopeful note: strong leadership still exists, and it’s willing to act when others won’t.
