U.S. Central Command forces launched a fresh round of strikes against Iran on Tuesday, targeting capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM announced:
“At 3 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching an additional round of strikes against Iran to continue degrading Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The strikes come just one hour before a reinstated naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas goes into effect at 4 p.m. ET.
This latest military action continues the Trump administration’s sustained pressure campaign on the Iranian regime following repeated attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on commercial vessels. The combination of precision strikes and the naval blockade aims to severely restrict Iran’s ability to export oil and threaten international maritime traffic through the critical chokepoint.
The situation in the Persian Gulf remains highly tense as U.S. forces maintain a strong presence with more than 20 warships in the region.
