Just days after Charlie Kirk was assassinated for daring to speak his conservative beliefs to college students, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi couldn’t resist doing what Democrats do best—dodging responsibility. At an event in Maryland, Pelosi brushed off the toxic, often violent rhetoric coming from her party, saying Democrats “cannot take responsibility for the minds that are out there.” Translation: we can say whatever we want, but if someone takes it literally and pulls the trigger, hey—that’s on them, not us.
Authorities have already revealed the disturbing details: Charlie’s suspected killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, left behind bullet casings engraved with phrases like “Hey Fascist! Catch!” and “If You Read This, You Are Gay, LMAO.” This wasn’t random. This was leftist rage dressed up in meme culture and weaponized in a college auditorium. And yet Pelosi wants us to believe Democratic rhetoric had nothing to do with it.
Of course, she pivoted to the usual talking points about “ending gun violence” and even suggested that President Trump needs to set a more unifying tone. That’s rich—considering it’s her party that has spent years calling Trump supporters “Nazis,” “domestic terrorists,” and worse. But sure, blame Trump for the division.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) doubled down on this nonsense during an appearance on The Breakfast Club. She actually suggested maybe Kirk’s assassination wasn’t political at all, maybe it was “personal.” Then, in the same breath, she claimed the right needs to tone down its rhetoric. You can’t make this stuff up. Crockett even admitted it’s perfectly fine to call someone a “wannabe Hitler” or say Trump is “operating as a dictator”—but somehow, that’s not incitement. Right.
Here’s the truth: words matter. For years, Democrats and their media allies have normalized calling conservatives every vile name in the book. They’ve cheered mobs harassing Republicans at restaurants, they’ve winked at Antifa’s violence, and they’ve laughed off threats against Trump and his supporters. Now, after a conservative leader has been murdered, their answer is: “Don’t look at us.”
Charlie Kirk was murdered while doing what he loved—speaking to young Americans about faith, freedom, and patriotism. He paid the ultimate price for exercising free speech. And yet, instead of accountability, Pelosi and her allies offer excuses and finger-pointing.
But here’s the thing the left doesn’t understand: every time they try to smear, silence, or excuse violence against conservatives, they only strengthen the movement Charlie Kirk helped build. His widow Erika has already promised the mission will not die. And despite Pelosi’s attempts to dodge responsibility, millions of Americans are wide awake to the double standard.
The left may keep spewing dangerous rhetoric, but make no mistake: we won’t be intimidated. If anything, Charlie’s death has ignited a fire that no amount of Democrat excuses will ever put out.
