Newly released footage is raising serious concerns after appearing to show that the violent assault of a conservative journalist in Minneapolis wasn’t spontaneous — it was planned ahead of time.
Turning Point USA Frontlines reporter Savanah Hernandez shared videos documenting the moment she was swarmed, punched, shoved, and thrown to the ground by a mob during an anti-ICE protest. The incident, which has now caught the attention of the Department of Justice, paints a disturbing picture of escalating hostility toward journalists covering these events.
In the footage, a man identified as Chris Ostroushko is allegedly seen instructing his daughter to retrieve a whistle and blow it directly into Hernandez’s ear — just before the physical attack began. Because apparently, coordinating intimidation tactics beforehand is now part of “peaceful protest.” ?
According to Hernandez, authorities in Hennepin County have moved to charge Ostroushko, along with his wife and daughter, in connection with the attack. She later reported suffering from a headache and a stiff neck following the incident.
The situation escalated quickly, with additional footage showing law enforcement officers being aggressively confronted by the same crowd after they stepped in. So not only is violence against journalists on display, but open hostility toward law enforcement as well — a combination that’s becoming all too familiar.
Adding another layer, social media posts highlighted connections between Ostroushko and figures like Don Lemon, as well as William Scott Kelly, both of whom were reportedly indicted in relation to a separate incident involving the storming of a church earlier this year.
Medical experts warn that blowing a whistle into someone’s ear can cause serious damage, including potential hearing loss, underscoring just how dangerous even seemingly “minor” actions in this incident could have been.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon confirmed that federal authorities are now looking into the attack, signaling that this case may have broader legal consequences.
Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated case. Conservative journalists have repeatedly faced violence while covering anti-ICE protests in recent months, with multiple reporters attacked or targeted simply for doing their jobs. Even counter-protesters have reportedly been assaulted in similar incidents.
