Adding a fresh layer of absurdity to this legal challenge, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), under the notoriously radical leadership of Randi Weingarten, has officially joined the lawsuit. Their stated reason? A claim that their membership includes bus drivers and other support personnel, and a concern over the Department of Transportation "seizing" personal data from 17 million CDL holders.
The AFT claims it represents approximately 13,500 transportation workers, many of whom hold CDLs. They argue the government's demand puts sensitive personal data—including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, license numbers, and state of record—at risk of being collected and shared without consent.
But let's be clear: this isn't about data privacy or the safety of American children on school buses. Not for the AFT, an organization that has consistently demonstrated a willingness to put political agendas ahead of the very students its members are paid to educate.
