A 64-year-old woman married to Jill Biden’s former husband was found dead inside her Delaware home late Sunday night after police responded to a reported domestic dispute, authorities confirmed.
Linda Stevenson was discovered unresponsive on the living room floor of the Oak Hill residence she shared with her husband, Bill Stevenson, shortly after 11:15 p.m., according to the New Castle County Police Department. Despite efforts by first responders to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bill Stevenson was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, years before she married then-Sen. Joe Biden.

“This is still a murder investigation,” Stevenson’s daughter, Christina Vettori, told the Daily Mail on Tuesday, declining further comment. “I would not like to talk at this time.”
Police said detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit were called in to take over the case, underscoring the seriousness of the circumstances surrounding Stevenson’s death.
However, a 911 dispatch recording obtained by TMZ referenced a possible cardiac arrest, introducing early uncertainty about the cause of death.

As of now, no charges have been filed, and investigators say the case remains open. Stevenson’s body has been transferred to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
The incident has drawn additional attention due to Bill Stevenson’s long-publicized claims involving the Bidens. Jill Biden was married to Stevenson for five years before the couple separated in 1974 and finalized their divorce in 1975. She married Joe Biden in 1977.

Over the years, Bill Stevenson has alleged that Jill Biden had an affair with Joe Biden prior to the end of their marriage—claims the Bidens have consistently denied. Stevenson has said the couple became close to Joe Biden while working on his 1972 Senate campaign, the same year Biden’s first wife, Neilia, and infant daughter were tragically killed in a car accident.
Stevenson has claimed he suspected an affair by 1974, though the Bidens have maintained that they met on a blind date in 1975, after Joe Biden became a widower and Jill Biden’s first marriage had ended.

Authorities have not indicated whether foul play is suspected, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results before making further determinations.
