In a move that perfectly encapsulates the radical left’s accelerating grip on the Democratic Party, Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo, best known for playing the Hulk in Disney’s Marvel films, is now attempting to strong-arm U.S. House Democrats. His target? House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, who he believes is unfit for the Speaker’s gavel.
Jeffries, a Brooklyn native, has consistently stood as a staunch defender of Israel’s right to exist as a democratic Jewish state. His unwavering support has been a bedrock throughout Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas terrorists in Gaza, backing crucial U.S. military aid and describing his commitment to Israel’s security as "ironclad and unbreakable." This principled stance, predictably, has made him a target for the far-left, drawing abuse from the very fringes of his own party.
But for Ruffalo, such loyalty to an American ally is simply "unacceptable."
The Avengers star is actively promoting a petition demanding Jeffries be removed from consideration for the Speaker of the House position, an opportunity that may arise after the upcoming elections. It appears the celebrity class, far removed from the concerns of everyday Americans, now believes it holds veto power over congressional leadership.
The petition’s language is telling, openly alleging that Jeffries represents the "Democratic establishment" — a convenient label for anyone who deviates from the progressive orthodoxy now driving the party:
Hakeem Jeffries currently serves as House Democratic Leader and has previously been nominated by House Democrats for Speaker. If his name is put forward again, House members will have a choice to make.
Hakeem Jeffries is simply not the right choice.
We believe the Speaker should represent the Democratic voters, not just the Democratic establishment.
The petition notes that members of the newly elected U.S. House of Representatives will choose the Speaker in January 2027, highlighting the immense power of this leadership position in Congress. And yet, instead of allowing representatives to make their own choices, Ruffalo and his ilk prefer to dictate terms from their Hollywood ivory towers.
Ruffalo’s foray into this internal Democrat battle is hardly surprising given his recent public appearances. He recently made a surprise showing at a Macklemore concert, a rapper who was notably dropped from an Ed Sheeran tour for his accusations of Israel committing genocide. It seems "Free Palestine" rallies are now standard fare for the Tinseltown elite.
During the concert, Ruffalo delivered his own brand of political wisdom, urging attendees to "Keep fighting for a free Palestine and humanity all over the world and amongst the people. There will be no peace until there’s equality." A predictable call for amorphous "equality" that conveniently overlooks the complexities of geopolitical realities, all while undermining a key U.S. ally.
This desperate attempt by a pampered celebrity to reshape congressional leadership not only exposes the deep, festering divisions within the Democrat Party but also underscores the alarming influence of the radical left. When basic support for an ally like Israel becomes a disqualifier for leadership, it's clear that common sense and national interest have been abandoned in favor of fringe ideologies and celebrity virtue signaling. Americans deserve leaders who prioritize national security and unwavering alliances, not those who bow to the whims of Hollywood's most detached and deluded voices.
