Cheap Gas, Less Crime, Lives Saved — And Seven Victories Democrats Refused to Cheer at the State of the Union

“How do you not stand?” may go down as one of the most honest questions ever asked from a podium.

During his State of the Union address, Donald Trump laid out a record built on national sovereignty, public safety, and real results. Falling crime. Lower inflation. A secure border. A government that finally remembers who it works for. Pretty standard stuff for a country that wants to survive.

Yet seven times, Democrats refused to stand and applaud achievements any normal nation would celebrate. Apparently, success is controversial now.

The Duty of Government: Protect Americans First

The defining moment came when Trump asked lawmakers to affirm the most basic responsibility of government:

“The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

Not a single Democrat stood. Not one. When protecting Americans becomes optional, you know priorities have been… creatively rearranged.

Fentanyl Flow Slashed

Trump highlighted one of his biggest border victories:

“The flow of deadly fentanyl across our border is down by a record 56 percent in one year.”

That’s lives saved. Families spared. Communities safer. Still, Democrats stayed seated — because apparently stopping poison at the border is no longer bipartisan.

Historic Drop in Murders

Trump also announced:

“The murder rate saw its single largest decline in recorded history.”

According to CBS News, murders dropped more than 20 percent in 2025, the biggest decline ever recorded, with rates the lowest since 1900. But again, no applause. Turns out fewer Americans being murdered is not clap-worthy if the wrong guy says it.

Inflation Falling, Gas Cheap Again

After years of inflation punishment, Trump delivered relief:

“In 12 months, my administration has driven core inflation down to the lowest level in more than five years… Gasoline… is now below $2.30 a gallon in most states and in some places $1.99.”

Lower mortgage rates. Lower interest rates. Cheaper fuel. But Democrats — who talk nonstop about “affordability” — couldn’t bring themselves to celebrate life actually becoming more affordable. Awkward.

Justice for Iryna Zarutska

Trump honored the parents of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, an immigrant murdered on a train by a repeat offender released under no-cash bail.

“She had escaped a brutal war only to be slain by a hardened criminal set free to kill in America.”

Trump promised justice for her daughter. Her mother wept. Democrats sat. Apparently, there is one immigrant they suddenly don’t care about.

Washington, D.C. Is Safer

Trump noted that murders in D.C. are down sharply and crime is at record lows.

“They don’t like to hear that,” he said.

He wasn’t wrong. Good news is bad news when it contradicts the narrative.

Protecting Children from Radical Ideology

Trump also spoke about Sage Blair, a teenager socially transitioned by school officials without parental consent.

“We can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will.”

Democrats refused to stand. Because defending parental rights and protecting kids is apparently too extreme.

The Moment That Said Everything

“How do you not stand? How do you not stand?” Trump asked.

Simple answer: you don’t stand when you care more about politics than people.

Yet the message of the night was clear — cheaper gas, lower crime, a safer border, protected children, and justice for victims. Americans saw leadership, confidence, and results. And while Democrats stayed seated, the country is standing taller.

And that’s the real victory.
