Grizzly Trump Turns Court Loss into Economic Win, Says Sen. John Kennedy

Sen. John Kennedy isn’t losing sleep over the Supreme Court’s tariff ruling — he’s calling it another example of President Donald Trump turning pressure into progress. After the Court’s 6–3 decision struck down Trump’s global tariff authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, Democrats rushed to celebrate like they just solved the economy with a hashtag.

According to them, tariffs only raise prices. End of story. Or so they say. Kennedy, Republican from Louisiana, had a much more grounded view of reality. He pointed out that Trump didn’t just sit around admiring his tariff authority like a shiny toy in the Oval Office. He used it — and used it to negotiate stronger trade agreements for the United States.

“Stevie Wonder could see this decision coming,” Kennedy said on Fox & Friends Weekend, reminding viewers that Trump leveraged tariffs as a bargaining tool, something previous presidents talked about but never had the courage to fully deploy.

Now Democrats want the government to return the tariff money already collected. Kennedy warned them they might regret that demand. If Trump sends $300 billion back to the business community, that money won’t be buried in a mattress — it will fuel growth. And with midterms approaching, a roaring economy is not exactly what Trump’s critics were hoping for.

Tariffs have been a defining feature of Trump’s second term. In 2025, he declared the trade deficit a national emergency and argued the law allowed him broad tariff authority. That wasn’t about showmanship; it was about applying pressure where it mattered. Trading partners who had been taking advantage of the U.S. market suddenly had to negotiate instead of dictate.

Kennedy summed up Trump’s strategy in simple terms: if you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly. Trump believes strength gets respect, and his aggressive trade posture proved that America doesn’t have to settle for bad deals.

So while critics cheer a technical ruling, Trump’s record still shows results: stronger trade negotiations, leverage restored, and the possibility of billions flowing back into American businesses. Call it a setback if you want — but when the economy starts roaring, it’s going to sound a lot like a victory.
