Consensus Arrives: Americans Overwhelmingly Agree Violent Illegal Immigrants Should Be Deported

In a moment of rare unity — the kind we haven’t seen since before the Left decided borders were merely “suggestions” — an overwhelming majority of Americans say illegal immigrants who commit violent crimes should be deported. Groundbreaking, I know. Try to contain your shock.

According to a new Economist/YouGov survey, 88% of Americans agree that if someone is in the U.S. illegally and commits a violent crime, they should be sent packing. Only 4% think they should stay — probably the same folks who believe “border security” is a hate crime — and 8% just aren’t sure… which is its own kind of concern.

What makes this even more notable is the agreement across party lines. Yes, even Democrats managed to join the rest of us on Planet Earth for this one:

  • 94% of Republicans

  • 87% of Democrats

  • 84% of independents

All say deport violent offenders. When even Democrats agree on deportation, you know things are bad.

Where opinions split is on non-violent offenders. 45% say deport them, 34% say no, and 21% can’t decide. Naturally:

  • 75% of Republicans say deport them,

  • while 56% of Democrats say don’t deport non-violent offenders.
What a surprise — the party of “sanctuary cities” wants to keep more people around. Shocking.

This survey, taken November 21–24 among 1,677 respondents, comes as the Trump administration keeps doing what leaders are supposed to do: arresting and deporting criminal illegal aliens. Much to the horror of leftists who apparently think American streets should double as halfway houses for violent predators.

The Department of Homeland Security, tired of establishment media spin, reminded the country that 70% of ICE arrests involve illegal aliens who have been charged or convicted of crimes — not counting gang members, terrorists, human rights violators, and foreign fugitives. But sure, tell us again how ICE is the problem.

Recent cases speak for themselves:

  • Cesar Ramirez-Ortiz, an illegal alien from Mexico, convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child in Chicago.

  • Ronald Alexander Bonilla-Aguilar, a Honduran illegal immigrant, convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14 in Santa Clarita, California.

  • Javier Salvador Morfin, another Mexican illegal alien, convicted of assault with intent to commit a felony and attempted rape in Los Angeles.

But remember — according to the media, these are the “victims” of harsh immigration policy.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin put it plainly:
“Thanks to the Biden administration’s open border policies, every town is now a border town flooded with worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”

She applauded ICE for arresting “sickos who sexually abused children, raped innocent women, and committed murder,” adding that this Thanksgiving, Americans can be grateful these predators are no longer roaming free.

And honestly? She’s right.
In a time when division feels like the norm, it’s refreshing to see that Americans overwhelmingly agree on at least one thing: protecting our communities matters.

And with strong leadership and law enforcement doing the job the Biden crowd refuses to do, there’s plenty of reason to stay hopeful.
