For years, Americans who raised concerns about election integrity were dismissed, mocked, or told to stop asking questions. Now, one Democrat running for Congress says he has seen exactly the kind of conduct President Donald Trump has warned about—and he's saying it publicly.
Florida congressional candidate and rapper Uncle Luke stunned social media this week after declaring that he agrees with Trump on one of the most contentious issues in American politics: Democrats cheating in elections.
In a video posted Wednesday, Uncle Luke said he never expected to find himself agreeing with the president on the issue. But after what he says he witnessed in his own congressional race, he concluded that the problem is real.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I hate to agree with Donald Trump, but on this one, I got to agree with him,” Uncle Luke said. “These career politicians, Democrats, that I’ve always supported, in my congressional race, they are really cheating.”
He then described what he said was happening inside his district, accusing one Democratic candidate's operation of engaging in conduct that strikes at the heart of election integrity.
“One of the candidates, she has people knocking on seniors’ doors telling these seniors that they will take their ballot to the box, opening up the ballot, changing the vote, and dropping it in the box,” he said.
If accurate, the accusations point to conduct that would raise serious legal and ethical questions, particularly because absentee ballots are intended to be completed and submitted by voters without outside interference. Uncle Luke did not identify the candidate by name in the video, and the claims have not been independently verified through the source material provided.
His remarks are notable not simply because of the allegations, but because they come from a Democrat who openly acknowledged that he has historically supported Democratic politicians.
