DHS Strikes Back: Illegal Non-Citizen Voters Face Immediate Prosecution, Deportation Under Trump Admin

As critical midterm elections loom, the Trump administration is sending an unmistakable message to those who would undermine American democracy: vote illegally, and face the full force of federal law enforcement. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) general counsel James Percival issued a stark warning this past Saturday, asserting that noncitizens caught casting illegal ballots will be found, charged, and deported.

"Our message now is, whether it's now or later, if you illegally cast a vote, we will find you, we will charge you, and we will deport you," Percival declared on "My View with Lara Trump." This isn't a mere threat; it's a promise backed by an ongoing nationwide crackdown on voter fraud, spearheaded by the Trump administration.

Just days before Percival’s remarks, DHS announced a wave of arrests, with dozens of noncitizens apprehended on charges directly related to illegal voting. This decisive action underscores the administration's unwavering commitment to securing America's electoral process, ensuring that the sacred right to vote remains exclusively for American citizens.

Secretary Markwayne Mullin, in a recent press release, pulled no punches, stating, "The patriots of ICE have arrested dozens of noncitizens who illegally voted in American elections. Some of them have criminal histories that include assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence, drug trafficking, burglary, and driving under the influence. The Trump administration will not allow illegal aliens to steal the votes of hardworking American citizens. American elections are for Americans only."

This isn't just about preserving election integrity; it's about national security and upholding the rule of law. DHS reports that many of those arrested harbored disturbing criminal records, ranging from serious drug offenses to sex crimes. The notion that individuals with such backgrounds could fraudulently influence our elections should be an outrage to every law-abiding American.

However, efforts to clean up our voter rolls and protect against foreign interference haven't gone unchallenged. Some state officials, seemingly more concerned with bureaucratic hurdles than ballot security, have attempted to cast doubt on these vital investigations. Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs, for example, questioned findings from the Justice Department last week, after federal officials identified over 400 noncitizens illegally registered to vote in his state, with some allegedly casting ballots for decades.

Hobbs dismissed the findings, claiming "several glaring deficiencies" and asserting that the list included U.S. citizens, calling it "not reliable." Such resistance only highlights a dangerous disconnect from the common-sense principle that only citizens should vote. It begs the question: why would any election official actively push back against efforts to remove ineligible voters, especially when the integrity of our elections hangs in the balance?

Despite these attempts to derail accountability, the Trump administration remains resolute. Percival confirmed that more than 200 individuals have already been charged in connection with noncitizen voter fraud, and the agency promises that more cases are forthcoming. This robust enforcement sends a clear signal: the era of looking the other way at illegal voting is over.

America's elections are the bedrock of our republic. The Trump administration, through the courageous actions of DHS and ICE, is standing firm against those who seek to corrupt this foundational pillar. Protecting the ballot box from non-citizen interference is not just a policy; it's a moral imperative for preserving the sovereignty and future of the United States. This is what it means to put America First.
