Trump Administration's Fraud Task Force Delivers Crushing Blow to Crooks, Recovers Millions in Minnesota

In a powerful demonstration of the Trump administration's unwavering commitment to law and order, the White House Fraud Task Force descended upon St. Cloud, Minnesota, Friday to announce a sweeping new wave of takedowns in the ongoing war against fraud across various government agencies.

Top officials from the FBI, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Treasury Department detailed the formidable results of their coordinated efforts, highlighting aggressive investigations and prosecutions that are cleaning up Minnesota and setting a national standard.

“In many ways, the war on fraud, our nation’s war on fraud, started right here in Minnesota,” declared CMS administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz during the press conference. He emphasized that while the problems are not unique, they are “particularly evident in Minnesota,” a clear signal that the Trump administration is targeting corruption wherever it festers.

FBI Director Kash Patel delivered a stern warning to criminals, stating, “This FBI followed the money. This FBI will put in prison anyone who commits fraud anywhere in the world against any American citizen.” His words underscore a revitalized FBI under the Trump administration, focused squarely on accountability for those who steal from hardworking Americans.

Patel announced that the FBI in Minneapolis executed 17 search warrants on Thursday, leading to a 26-count indictment. This decisive action resulted in the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in childcare and healthcare fraud: Feisal Elmi of Aspen Associates (11 counts of healthcare fraud, $8 million in intended loss); Jama Mohamod of American Home Health Care (6 counts of healthcare fraud, $3.27 million in intended loss); Faiza Ahmed of Home Sweet Home (8 counts of healthcare fraud, $10 million in intended fraud); and Habiba Mohamed of Smart Therapy (one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States).

Collectively, these individuals are accused of intending to defraud thousands of vulnerable victims of over $41 million, all at the expense of taxpayer dollars. “We are going to continue working with our state and local partners and interagency to dismantle, disrupt and take down fraud networks wherever they are, in Minnesota in St. Cloud and everywhere else in the country,” Patel affirmed, leaving no doubt about the relentless pursuit of justice.

These latest actions build on previous successes, with investigations linked to the notorious fraud-ridden nonprofit Feeding Our Future already resulting in 81 individuals charged, 70 convicted, and over half a billion dollars in combined restitution. This is a testament to the Trump administration's persistent vigilance against those who prey on public trust.

In a significant escalation, the press briefing also announced a closer, more aggressive partnership between the Fraud Task Force and the IRS to combat fraud nationwide. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent proudly noted, “Since the start of the Trump administration, we have supported law enforcement efforts that led to the arrest and charging of 115 fraudsters, as well as 75 convictions and nearly 3,000 subpoenas across Minnesota.”

Bessent lauded IRS criminal investigators for their crucial role, particularly in assisting with investigative activity at several suspected fraud sites across Minnesota just this week. “They don’t get much press, but they are one of the most effective groups in the United States government for fighting fraud,” Bessent observed.

This new IRS alliance signals a strategic shift, which Dr. Oz described as “moving on to the big boy.” Oz highlighted the exploitation of federal programs during COVID, especially in healthcare, stating, “If people are lowly enough to steal from the poor, if criminals take from the poor, they’re almost certainly not paying their taxes.” This partnership closes a critical loophole, ensuring that those who defraud the government face justice on all fronts.

Colin M. McDonald, the Assistant Attorney General for the National Fraud Enforcement Division, further underscored the administration's impact, reporting that 14 fraud defendants in Minnesota have already been sentenced to a combined total of 988 months in prison. “Let me be clear. This is still the beginning of our work in Minnesota. We will be here for as long as it takes to punish the wrongdoers in Minnesota,” McDonald declared, sending a clear message that the Trump administration will not rest until justice is served and taxpayer dollars are protected. This is the America First promise in action: relentless accountability, robust enforcement, and unwavering defense of American values against corruption.
