DOJ Unmasks Horrifying Conspiracy: Transgender Suspect Arrested in Canadian School Massacre Plot

A chilling and depraved plot that led to a mass school shooting in British Columbia, Canada, has taken a new, disturbing turn as the Department of Justice announced the arrest of an American suspect accused of aiding the horrific rampage from Washington state. The revelation brings into sharp focus the dark underbelly of online communities and the active enabling of unimaginable violence.

The original tragedy unfolded in February, when 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar unleashed terror, brutally murdering eight people. The victims included his own mother and young stepbrother at home, followed by five innocent children and an educational assistant at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Van Rootselaar then turned the gun on himself during a violent shootout with law enforcement, leaving dozens more injured in his wake. As details emerged following the massacre, it became known that Van Rootselaar, a former student at the school, had been wearing a dress during the killings, had "transitioned to female," and openly used "she/her" pronouns on his social media profiles. Now, the plot thickens with the apprehension of an alleged accomplice.

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice identified and arrested 30-year-old James Cody Bryant, a resident of Washington state. Mr. Bryant now faces grave charges of "conspiracy to murder persons in a foreign country." In a detail that echoes the primary shooter, authorities confirm that Bryant also identifies as female. The comprehensive details released by the DOJ paint a grim picture of premeditated evil:

Federal officials state that Van Rootselaar and Bryant had been in frequent communication since at least August 2025 via the Discord platform. Their exchanges, meticulously outlined in the criminal complaint, reveal a disturbing collaboration where Bryant allegedly agreed to facilitate Van Rootselaar's murderous plan. Prosecutors describe how Bryant committed to recording and broadcasting a live stream of the murders, even helping Van Rootselaar test the equipment to ensure a clear visual of the planned killings.

The level of Bryant's complicity runs deeper. The complaint says Bryant offered tactical advice, instructing Van Rootselaar on how to maximize casualties and which firearms to use. Further enabling the atrocity, Bryant is accused of sending money to Van Rootselaar for various items essential to the attack, including a lighter reportedly used to construct an explosive device detonated during the school invasion. Moments before the bloodbath at the school, Bryant reportedly confirmed receiving the live stream, solidifying direct involvement. Authorities also noted that Bryant advised Van Rootselaar on concealing the plot by deleting messages and employing Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for streaming the horrific video.

The court filings indicate that Bryant repeatedly assured Van Rootselaar of unwavering support, promising not to alert law enforcement and pledging to manage the live streaming. While Bryant reportedly made attempts to dissuade Van Rootselaar from the attack between August and February, the ultimate failure to contact authorities proved catastrophic. Even after Van Rootselaar had already executed two family members, there was a critical window for intervention before the school assault. Instead, federal officials say Bryant provided crucial advice on how to start the family car, directly enabling the shooter to proceed with the ghastly school massacre.

If convicted, James Cody Bryant could rightfully spend the remainder of his life behind bars, a just consequence for such heinous acts. This case serves as a stark reminder of the global nature of evil, the necessity of vigilant law enforcement, and the absolute imperative to hold accountable those who conspire to commit unspeakable violence against our children and communities, no matter how far removed they believe themselves to be.
