In a revelation that shocks absolutely no one paying attention, Department of Justice leaders confirmed that the key evidence identifying the Jan. 6 pipe bomb suspect had been — quite literally — sitting around gathering dust for years under the Biden administration. Because of course it was.
During a press conference on Thursday, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest of Brian Cole Jr., noting that what finally broke the case wasn’t some mysterious new lead or a sudden flood of witnesses. No, it was, in her own words, “the hard work of President Trump’s administration.” Funny how actual results show up when competent leadership is involved.
Bondi said investigators managed to identify Cole only after months of sifting through evidence that had been at the FBI the entire time — yes, during Biden’s watch. Shocking, isn’t it? Turns out all they needed was real police work instead of… whatever it is they’ve been doing for the past four years.
According to newly unsealed court documents, investigators used bank records — including purchases of pipe bomb materials — and cellphone tower data to pinpoint the suspect. Cole now faces charges for using explosives, with more charges possible, and is expected to make his first court appearance Friday.
The FBI had previously released surveillance video showing a hooded suspect planting two explosive devices near the headquarters of both the Republican and Democratic National Committees on the night of January 5, 2021. The devices were “viable” and could have detonated. The first one was discovered by a woman doing her laundry in an alley — because apparently everyday Americans have to pick up the slack when federal agencies take a four-year nap. Her quick report led authorities to the second bomb.
A congressional report later revealed that under the Biden administration, the FBI began “diverting resources” away from the investigation by late February 2021 — barely two months after the bombs were found. Priorities, right?
The long-running mystery fueled years of questions among Trump supporters, especially considering the timing of the bombs, the security failures, and how figures like Vice President Kamala Harris ended up unknowingly near the devices. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino — long before joining the bureau — had been one of the loudest voices warning that the Biden administration was hiding evidence and that the bomb placement had all the makings of an “inside job.” DOJ leaders say the motive is still unknown and the investigation remains in its early stages.
At the news conference, Bongino emphasized that he made solving the pipe bomb case a top priority, echoing what he said back in May when he told Fox News the bureau was “closing in” on suspects.
And now, finally, after years of excuses and dust collecting on evidence, the truth is starting to break through. A good day for justice — and an even better reminder of what real leadership can accomplish.
