Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) made a revealing admission Tuesday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s American Agenda: “about two-thirds of those ICE is deporting are” criminals. Yes, even a Democrat finally said the quiet part out loud.
While Fetterman criticized some of ICE’s tactics and said he doesn’t agree with many of them, he also argued the agency should “stand down” in Minneapolis. That’s one way to respond to enforcement—ask it to stop—but even he couldn’t avoid the numbers.
Later in the interview, Fetterman acknowledged that the administration should “re-focus on securing our border — and that’s been successful — and deporting all of the criminals.” He added, “I think we can all agree with that.” Apparently, reality has entered the conversation.
He went on to emphasize that the latest statistics he has seen show that “about two-thirds of those ICE is deporting are criminal[s],” and then admitted, “I think that’s a good thing.” Imagine that—removing criminals from the country is now considered progress.
Despite his complaints about tactics, Fetterman’s own words undercut the narrative that ICE is targeting innocent people at random. By his account, most deportations involve criminals, and even he agrees that’s something worth supporting.
In the end, the facts speak for themselves: border security is working, criminals are being deported, and even critics are starting to admit it. When truth breaks through the political noise, it’s a win for public safety—and that’s something Americans can feel good about.
