Yes, the weekend is finally here. Does it feel like a century since the Super Bowl and Bad Bunny’s carnival of crotch-grabbing and dry-humping? Muy malo.
And speaking of very bad, the week in politics brought a full parade of awful. From Chuck Schumer’s race-baiting false equivalencies to Lisa Murkowski being, well, Lisa Murkowski, it was a banner week for people who treat bad ideas like a lifestyle.
Here are the Worst of the Worst from the week that was.
Chuck “Jim Crow 2.0” Schumer
According to Schumer and his band of Democrats, asking people to present identification before voting is basically the same as forcing them to drink from separate water fountains and attend segregated schools. That’s the logic behind their claim that the SAVE America Act is “Jim Crow 2.0.”
Yes, the same crowd that calls anyone who disagrees with them racist or Nazi is now comparing a bill requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote with a “modern-day poll tax.” Subtle as a sledgehammer.
Bad news for the Chuckster: most Americans don’t buy it. Polls consistently show voter ID is an 80/20 issue nationwide, including strong support from Democrats. Must all be racists, right? Funny thing, though—it was the Democrat Party that actually gave America Jim Crow laws. History has a habit of ruining a good meltdown.
RINO on the loose
The unhinged left doesn’t walk alone; it has some reliable allies in the RINO right. Enter Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who is already on record opposing the SAVE America Act and its earlier voter-verification bill. Murkowski insists she’s being “principled.” Translation: she votes like a Democrat and calls it independence.
Alaska is our largest state, represented by perhaps the worst Republican senator in the country. That takes real dedication.
AOC takes Munich
On the insufferable front, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made sure everyone knew she was headed to the Munich Security Conference, and that she was going to, like, crush it, girl-boss style. The bobblehead representing one of the most leftist districts in blue New York actually spoke—unfortunately—on two panels, again proving in real time that U.S. academic achievement has seen better days.
Ahead of her appearance, AOC’s “foreign policy adviser” told NBC News she would offer a “working class perspective” on domestic and foreign policy. What followed was predictable: shots at Donald Trump, Kamala-style word salads, warnings about “authoritarianism,” and cheerful talk about taxing the rich. The Westchester County girl—Bronx Girl costume and all—also managed to drop a massive carbon footprint flying to Germany, because nothing says climate warrior like a jet ride to Europe.
It was a rough week for common sense, but at least it made one thing clear: Americans are paying attention to who’s pushing nonsense and who’s standing for fairness and security. And that awareness is exactly how real progress begins.
