There should be a special term for Hillary Clinton's particular brand of political grandstanding – perhaps "Hillarocrisy." It describes the unique phenomenon of Clinton knowingly peddling falsehoods about her political adversaries, all while conveniently exempting herself from the very criticisms she hurls.

This striking lack of personal accountability isn't just a flaw; it's a characteristic often seen in those who flirt with authoritarian ideas. That's precisely what makes her recent doomsaying complaints about President Donald Trump’s actions concerning the press so utterly absurd and, frankly, rich.

In the latest chapter of the Hillary Clinton chronicles, she once again proves herself to be a deeply disingenuous political operator. The former Secretary of State recently told The Washington Post in an interview that Trump’s move to keep the serial hoax networks like Politico, CNN, and MSNOW out of the White House was "deeply disturbing."

“Honestly, every day that goes by, another unconstitutional, illegal action takes place on the part of this administration,” Clinton declared. “And this latest one is so troubling because kicking out news organizations from covering the administration from the White House really sends a signal that everything is at risk.” She then added, “Freedom of the press, as you know so well, is a cornerstone. I mean, it is at the core of who we are as Americans."

One might wonder where this impassioned defense of press freedom was when Donald Trump faced mass deplatforming while calling for peace on January 6th, or when millions of Americans were censored for daring to question the COVID pandemic response. And what about the ongoing suppression of critics challenging official narratives on everything from the Russia-Ukraine War to global warming across social media platforms?

Hillary Clinton bemoaning "unconstitutionality" regarding press access is like an arsonist lecturing firefighters about house fires. Her own Obama administration was directly accused of limiting press access, setting a troubling precedent that seems to have conveniently slipped her mind.

As The Los Angeles Times reported, "Nearly 40 news organizations have accused the Obama administration of improperly controlling images of the president by limiting the access granted to independent photojournalists while allowing free rein by the White House’s own photographers."

The report continued, "In a letter and a meeting last week, the news outlets and journalism groups complained to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney about the practice, saying the White House has prevented an unvarnished view of government business, while encouraging officially sanctioned competition for private news organizations." The letter from 38 organizations, including the White House Correspondents Assn. and the Tribune Co., charged that limitations on photographers’ access to President Obama created “a troubling precedent with a direct and adverse impact on the public’s ability to independently monitor and see what its government is doing.”

But the hypocrisy doesn't stop there. Setting aside the surreal spectacle of Hillary Clinton lecturing on the First Amendment, there's a proposed community note that thoroughly demolishes her argument. It turns out that Clinton herself once banned a reporter from a New Hampshire event.

Indeed. David Martosko, then U.S. political editor for the Daily Mail and the designated national print pool reporter, was famously denied access to Hillary Clinton’s New Hampshire events back in 2015. This included an early-childhood-education forum at the YMCA of Strafford County in Rochester, where a Secret Service agent simply told him, “No. You can’t come in.” He was even kept off the press vans.

This action is arguably more egregious than merely telling a purported "news network" – one that churns out 90 percent negative coverage of a presidential administration, effectively operating as a tool of a rival political party – that they can no longer operate from a privileged position within the White House.

The White House’s concerns about CNN and other networks are entirely justified, given the mind-blowing number of provable media hoaxes they have perpetrated against the American people.

These are not accidental errors; these are real, damaging, and intentional hoaxes that consistently flow in one direction: against President Donald Trump and Republicans. This Democrat Media Complex operates shamelessly and has never offered a single apology for the Russia Hoax, the "fine people" hoax, or the "suckers and losers" hoax.

Can we truly expect anything better from Hillary Clinton when she discusses her political opposition? Of course not.

However, we absolutely should demand better from outlets like CNN, Politico, The Washington Post, and others. They need to correctly differentiate between violations of fundamental press freedoms and the revocation of mere press privileges, especially when their own conduct renders them untrustworthy.

As RedState's Nick Arama recently highlighted, CNN is back to its old tricks of blatant engineering through campaign-season fearmongering. They spread a ridiculous story suggesting Trump might declare martial law before the midterms, explicitly stoking fear right before an election. They also deceptively claimed no one was covering the pool feed on Trump's trip to Tennessee after they were removed, when in fact, Real America's Voice (RAV) was providing full coverage. CNN made itself the story, rather than reporting actual news.

The very same press corps that whines incessantly about the Trump administration revoking press privileges is the same one that conveniently covered up President Biden’s undeniable decline and conveniently ignored his utter lack of press access throughout his term.

Their shameful, partisan behavior only serves to prove the Trump administration’s foundational point: when a media outlet cannot be trusted, it forfeits its right to a privileged podium from which to propagate untruths and partisan narratives. True journalistic integrity demands accountability, a concept apparently lost on Hillary Clinton and her preferred media allies. Americans deserve a press that reports facts, not partisan talking points, and certainly not one that cries foul while ignoring its own egregious record of hypocrisy and misinformation.
