Brace yourselves, patriots, for an urgent bulletin from the glittering halls of Hollywood: Barbra Streisand, the legendary voice of a bygone era, is reportedly quite upset with conservatives. Apparently, daring to question Dr. Anthony Fauci's reign during the COVID-19 pandemic constitutes a 'witch hunt' in her view, and she wants you to know she's very disappointed.
This impassioned plea for Fauci’s protection surfaced on the decidedly niche platform Bluesky, where Streisand lamented that Republicans simply fail to grasp that Dr. Fauci was, in her words, "a voice of reason." Such a convenient memory seems to overlook the growing mountain of evidence suggesting Fauci’s leadership was anything but reasonable, particularly for millions of Americans whose lives and livelihoods were upended by his directives.
Her spirited defense arrives just as the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee took decisive action, voting along party lines to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress. The bipartisan facade of pandemic unity has long since shattered, replaced by a clear-eyed demand for accountability from the man who once wielded immense power over American life.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has been subjected to a disgraceful witch hunt by Senate Republicans. Dr Fauci is an American hero. He was instrumental during the AIDS crisis to stop disinformation and pushed to discover the vaccine to allow AIDS patients to live with the virus.
Amid the horrors of the Covid pandemic which killed one million Americans, Dr Fauci was a voice of reason and helped speed the development of the vaccine to prevent hospitalization. The GOP is attempting to rewrite the history of the pandemic.
Predictably, the digital echo chamber quickly filled with equally detached sentiments. One Bluesky user, 'HowardIan328,' opined: 'I don’t quite understand why there are people who don’t follow the science.' Another, 'Darbrina,' chimed in with: 'Rand(y) Paul is jealous of Fauci...plain and simple. Fauci is everything the Rand(y) isn't. Fauci is a decent, educated man who has multiple degrees, accolades and achievements, and has actually benefited mankind, unlike the pathetic Paul who has only done evil.' And perhaps most telling, 'Gato918' declared: 'I've trusted Dr. Fauci since 1972, that's when I began my medical career. I will continue trusting him forever...'
Of course, Streisand's sudden alarm over 'witch hunts' rings particularly hollow given her own lengthy and public history of vitriolic attacks against former President Donald Trump. She spent his entire first term railing against him, even releasing an entire anti-Trump album. During the 2024 campaign, she accused him of borrowing from the "fascist playbook" and emphatically declared he should be "nowhere near the Presidency." Apparently, some political investigations are more 'witch hunt-y' than others, depending on who's in the crosshairs.
Even richer still is Streisand’s own highly questionable conduct during the very pandemic she now defends Fauci’s handling of. Her production company, Barwood Films, reportedly received approximately $200,000 in taxpayer-funded PPP loans in 2020 and 2021. Loans that were, naturally, later forgiven. Reports even suggested some of these funds may have gone to pay the groundskeeper at her sprawling Malibu estate, though her spokesperson quickly denied that particular detail. But sure, it’s conservatives who are 'rewriting history.'
While Hollywood elites like Streisand may prefer to sing praises to figures like Fauci and dismiss legitimate oversight as a 'witch hunt,' the American people remember the lockdowns, the mandates, and the devastating economic and social costs. Conservatives are not interested in rewriting history, but in ensuring accountability for those who held unchecked power. This isn't about celebrity endorsements; it's about transparency, truth, and ensuring that no government official, regardless of their media darling status, is above answering to the public they claim to serve. The fight for common sense and integrity continues, regardless of Tinseltown's theatrical outrage.
