Investigation into Ilhan Omar’s Husband May Extend to Somalia, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) is urging investigators to look overseas in an ongoing probe involving Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her husband, Tim Mynett, over his failed business ventures.

Comer wants the House Ethics Committee investigation to examine activities linked to countries such as Somalia, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to a report by New York Post on Saturday.

The development comes after Omar’s reported net worth rose from about $51,000 to $30 million in one year, with the surge in wealth allegedly tied to two of Mynett’s business operations. Omar has denied these claims, saying that people falsely alleged she was worth millions and blamed conservatives for unfairly targeting her, according to Breitbart News.

According to the Post, Mynett’s investment firm Rose Lake Capital sought to build solar panel projects in Africa, and his main business partner reportedly received a $10,699 airline ticket to Dubai after discussions about a potential deal there.

The outlet reported that Comer’s committee initially led the probe and, in a letter dated February 5 to Mynett, demanded that he turn over “all documents and communications” by anyone affiliated with either Rose Lake Capital LLC or his failed California winery, eStCru LLC, related to travel “to the United Arab Emirates, Somalia, or Kenya, or travel undertaken to solicit business connected to those countries. This includes the dates of travel, the individuals who traveled, and the stated purpose of each trip.”

Mynett was given a deadline of Thursday to comply with the request.

In January, Comer pledged to seek answers about Omar’s “skyrocketing” wealth as Minnesota faces large-scale fraud allegations tied to its Somali community, according to Breitbart News.

After Omar recently criticized President Donald Trump, Comer responded harshly, saying she “needs to keep her mouth shut.”

In a social media post, he wrote:

“There is $19 billion in Minnesota Somalia fraud. Fake ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, a constant complainer who hates the USA, knows everything there is to know. She should be in jail or face even worse punishment, sent back to Somalia, considered one of the worst countries in the world. She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!”

In another post, he wrote:

“‘Scammer’ Ilhan Omar and her absolutely terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail right now or, far worse, sent back to Somalia. ‘Governor’ Walz is either the most corrupt government official in history or the most incompetent. Even a very low IQ person should have known what was going on in Minnesota. President DJT.”
