Israel has revealed what it describes as a major breakthrough against Iran’s global covert operations, exposing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ secretive “Unit 4000” and detailing how it allegedly orchestrated plots targeting Israeli officials, embassies, and strategic infrastructure around the world. ?
According to a joint statement from Israel’s intelligence and defense agencies, the network was uncovered during a broader military and intelligence campaign that focused on Iran’s leadership and operational structure. Officials said the effort led to the disruption of multiple planned attacks and the elimination of several senior figures tied to the operation.
One of the most significant developments came after authorities in Azerbaijan reportedly foiled a terror cell planning coordinated strikes in Baku. The targets allegedly included the Israeli embassy, a synagogue, leaders of the Jewish community, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline—an important energy corridor linking the Caspian region to global markets. ?️
Israeli officials identified Rahman Moghadam as the head of the network, responsible for overseeing global operations, recruiting operatives, and directing intelligence collection on Israeli leaders, military sites, and maritime assets. He was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike at the beginning of the campaign. Another senior figure, Majid Khademi, who led the IRGC’s Intelligence Organization, was also said to have been eliminated during the same phase.
A third key operative, Mohsen Suri, allegedly coordinated with terror cells across multiple regions. Israeli intelligence located the facility where he was operating, and he was later killed in a separate strike. The network reportedly had an extensive international presence, with activities spanning Azerbaijan, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, and other parts of Europe. Operatives were said to gather intelligence and prepare potential attacks against Israeli and Western interests.
Another individual highlighted was Mehdi Yekeh-Dehghan, known as “the Doctor,” who allegedly led operations in Azerbaijan and Turkey. Investigators claimed his network smuggled explosive drones from Iran into Turkey and then to Cyprus, while also conducting reconnaissance on military installations, including air bases used by allied forces. ?
