Rep. Jasmine Crockett has built a reputation as a walking controversy machine, known more for viral soundbites and shifting accents than serious policy. Still, she decided she was ready for the United States Senate. Texas voters, however, appear unconvinced.

With the official count still pending, Crockett is trailing fellow Democrat James Talarico. Courts are already getting involved, and the final result may take days. But Crockett didn’t wait for confirmation before rolling out a familiar excuse: election fraud.

Yes, the same crowd that says questioning elections is a “threat to democracy” suddenly has questions when the numbers don’t go their way. Funny how that works.

Crockett even bailed on her own election watch party once things started looking grim. She told supporters she was leaving because Dallas County votes were delayed and accused Republicans of “specifically targeting” Democratic voters. Translation: if I’m losing, someone must be cheating.

“If either Talarico or Crockett were victorious,” the winner would go on to face either Ken Paxton or John Cornyn, who are headed to a runoff after the GOP primary.

Texas politics is never boring, but this episode is a reminder that accountability hits differently when it’s your own race on the line. One thing is clear: voters are paying attention, and no amount of finger-pointing can change the scoreboard.

At the end of the day, Texans get the final say — and that’s exactly how it should be.
