KT McFarland: Europe’s Hypocrisy Fuels Russia’s War Machine

Leave it to President Donald Trump to say out loud what the global elites would rather keep quiet: Europe is funding Vladimir Putin’s war. On Truth Social this week, Trump reminded NATO allies he’s ready to slam Russia with major sanctions — but that won’t mean much if Europe keeps bankrolling Moscow through oil and gas purchases.

Former Trump Deputy National Security Adviser KT McFarland drove the point home on Newsmax Saturday: “Russia is paying for the war in Ukraine from the money it’s making from its oil and natural gas exports.” And who’s writing the checks? Europe, India, and others who can’t seem to kick their addiction to Russian energy. Yet, with a straight face, those same European leaders lecture America about “doing more” for Ukraine. Hypocrisy doesn’t even begin to cover it.

McFarland explained the math clearly: Russia exports oil and gas, gets “handsomely” paid for it, and uses that cash to fuel its military machine. Meanwhile, European leaders wag their fingers at the U.S. while funneling billions into Putin’s coffers. If irony were a commodity, Brussels would be the world’s largest exporter.

Trump’s solution is simple and Reaganesque: starve the beast. McFarland echoed his stance, saying, “Don’t tell me you’re going to wean yourself off of it in a couple of years’ time. Get off of it now.” Why wait years when the war is raging today? As McFarland put it, Reagan didn’t wait around to win the Cold War — he bankrupted the Soviets by cutting off their resources. Trump is calling for the same playbook: deprive Russia of the cash it needs, and you take away its ability to wage war.

So here we are again, with Trump leading while Europe dithers. He’s pushing for strength, for common sense, for America First. Meanwhile, the Europeans cry “unity” while fueling Putin’s tanks. Maybe it’s time they stop lecturing and start listening — because history has already shown us what works. And it’s not hypocrisy.
