In a powerful demonstration of law enforcement priorities, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have moved decisively into so-called "sanctuary" jurisdictions, arresting dangerous illegal aliens previously convicted of heinous crimes including murder, child rape, and possession of child sexual abuse material.
The message is clear: these policies, which prioritize ideology over public safety, will not stand in the way of protecting American communities.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin minced no words, stating, "Every day, the brave men and women of ICE are risking their lives to arrest and remove illegal aliens from our communities. Yesterday, ICE arrested murderers, pedophiles, rapists, and other dangerous criminals." This isn't just rhetoric; it's a stark contrast to the open-border agenda that has emboldened criminals.
Among those taken off the streets is Esteban Enriquez-Munoz of Mexico, apprehended in the sanctuary state of California. Enriquez-Munoz carries a chilling record, convicted of murder, robbery, and assault. This is the caliber of individual shielded by radical sanctuary policies.
Likewise, ICE agents acted swiftly in Massachusetts, another sanctuary state, to arrest Viengxay Chaleunphong of Laos. Chaleunphong's past includes three convictions for child rape, along with assault and battery on a child under 14 years old. The thought of such a predator roaming free in any community, let alone one intentionally designated as a "sanctuary," is an outrage.
Jendrick Ordonez-Calate of Guatemala, convicted of rape in Sussex County, was arrested in Delaware, a state the Department of Justice correctly identifies as a sanctuary jurisdiction. The consistent pattern of violent criminals finding refuge in these areas is no accident; it is the direct consequence of failed leftist policies.
Additional arrests underscore the urgent need for robust immigration enforcement. Jorge Avila-Velez of Mexico, previously convicted of possessing thousands of items of child sexual abuse material, was arrested in sanctuary New Jersey. Meanwhile, Hamza Boufnichal of Morocco, with convictions for obstruction, false identification, grand larceny, and assault and battery, was apprehended in Fairfax, Virginia, another sanctuary stronghold.
Secretary Mullin made it clear where this commitment originates: "President Trump made a promise to the American people that he would make America safe again, and DHS is delivering on that promise. We will never apologize for arresting and removing illegal aliens who should never have been in America in the first place."
This resurgence of law and order serves as a powerful reminder that American communities deserve protection, not ideological experiments that shield dangerous criminals.
