Left-Wing Activists Disrupt Synagogue Event to Attack Democrat Over ICE Funding Vote

Left-wing activists stormed a synagogue event in New York this week, turning what should have been a civil discussion into a crude political circus. Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi was speaking at a Jewish temple on Long Island when protesters affiliated with Climate Defiance interrupted him over his vote in favor of a government spending bill that included increased funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Nothing says “moral high ground” like yelling inside a place of worship.

According to the New York Post, the demonstrators unleashed profane insults and theatrical props, including adult diapers and knee pads, to mock Suozzi for supporting additional funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Climate Defiance proudly posted about the confrontation on X, calling Suozzi “hideous,” “grotesque,” and a “fascist-loving coward,” while accusing him of having “blood on his hands.” Because apparently screaming slogans is now considered policy analysis.

Video of the disruption, which has racked up millions of views online, shows activists heckling Suozzi while waving the props and ridiculing his support for border enforcement. One demonstrator held up an adult diaper and claimed it was for when Suozzi “pees himself in front of Donald Trump.” Another offered knee pads, saying they were for when he “serves” Trump. Subtlety, as always, was not invited.

A third protester added a remark comparing ICE to “masked Gestapo,” sarcastically thanking Suozzi for funding the agency. Comedian and activist Walter Masterson appeared to be escorted out of the temple while attempting to read the names of individuals he said had died in ICE-related incidents. “Nine people were killed by ICE this month, and you’re throwing me out while I’m reading their names?” he shouted as he was removed.

Days after the vote, Suozzi apologized for supporting the DHS spending package, which included roughly $10 billion in additional funding for ICE, according to Politico. His apology followed backlash from fellow Democrats and came after the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents in Minnesota, as reported by the New York Post.

“I failed to view the DHS funding vote as a referendum on the illegal and immoral conduct of ICE in Minneapolis,” Suozzi said. “I hear the anger from my constituents, and I take responsibility for that.” He added that he has long been critical of ICE’s unlawful behavior and said he must do a better job demonstrating that stance.

Suozzi was one of seven Democrats who crossed party lines to help Republicans narrowly pass the DHS funding measure by a 220–207 vote, Politico reported. That vote made him a target for activists who apparently believe enforcement itself is the problem, not chaos at the border.

At the end of the day, the scene inside that synagogue said more about the protesters than the policy. While the left keeps up the theatrics, funding law enforcement and securing the nation remain serious business—and under President Trump, that mission is clear, firm, and focused on protecting Americans first. And that, thankfully, is a message that still stands strong.
