Minnesota AG Keith Ellison Pushes Back After Being Grilled on Fraud Scandal

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison reacted sharply when questioned about his handling of a fraud scandal in the state, following comments from Vice President JD Vance suggesting possible referral of the matter to the Department of Justice.

During the exchange, Ellison also pushed back against a widely cited figure of $8 billion in alleged fraud, arguing that the number is only used by individuals “aligned with the Trump Administration.”

“That is a false number,” Ellison said, adding, “The fact is, is that fraud is always wrong.”

The conversation escalated further when Ellison appeared frustrated with continued questioning.

“Why don’t you give me a break, man?” he said, before adding, “I’m done talking to you.”

The tense exchange highlights the ongoing political pressure surrounding the fraud allegations and the broader debate over accountability and the scale of reported losses.

As scrutiny continues, the situation remains part of a larger national conversation on fraud prevention, oversight, and the responsibility of public officials to address serious financial misconduct claims.
