President Donald Trump revealed America’s new Air Force One on Friday at Joint Base Andrews, showcasing a upgraded Boeing 747-8 that will serve as the next presidential aircraft. The plane, a $400 million Boeing 747-8 originally gifted by the Qatari royal family and accepted by the U.S. government in 2025, features a bold new paint scheme in red, white, and dark blue with “United States of America” prominently displayed on the side.
Trump highlighted the aircraft’s massive size upgrade, noting it is “virtually double the size” of the previous plane. “The biggest difference is the difference in size,” Trump said while standing beside the jet ahead of a trip to Camp David. “ These are the new colors — red, white, and blue. We liked the baby blue, but it was time for a change … I like the color of the American flag.”
The aircraft, designated as a VC-25B Bridge aircraft, has undergone necessary security modifications and advanced technological upgrades while largely preserving its original interior layout. Air Force officials emphasized that the plane meets rigorous security and communications standards required for presidential operations.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach stated, “Many thought it could not be done, but the United States Air Force was able to execute and provide a secure, reliable airborne command post on an accelerated timeline.”
Trump toured the new jet with staff and members of the press.
The unveiling marks the official entry of the aircraft into service as a bridge until Boeing delivers the next generation of purpose-built presidential planes.
The new Air Force One represents a visible upgrade in both capability and national presentation for the Trump administration.
