Former President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice quietly launched an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) finances in 2024 after reports surfaced that the far-left congresswoman had accumulated a multi-million-dollar fortune since entering Congress, according to the New York Times.
Yes—despite years of media outrage whenever President Donald Trump raises questions, it turns out federal prosecutors under the Biden administration were asking the same thing.
“The Justice Department under the Biden administration opened an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, in 2024 to scrutinize her finances, campaign spending, and interactions with a foreign citizen,” the Times reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
That revelation came after Trump recently posted on Truth Social questioning how Omar, who arrived in the United States from Somalia with little to nothing, is now reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars.
“…the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump wrote.
Omar responded on X by claiming Trump is “panicking” and insisting there is nothing to investigate.
“Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing, and you’re panicking,” Omar wrote. “Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing.”
But the New York Times report directly contradicts that claim, confirming that Biden’s own Justice Department opened a probe into her finances, campaign spending, and foreign contacts.
Adding pressure, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced plans to subpoena Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, as part of an investigation into the couple’s rapidly growing wealth.
As Breitbart News previously reported, financial disclosures show Omar and Mynett’s net worth rose dramatically by the end of 2024—estimated between $6 million and $30 million.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, Omar’s financial filings indicate her household net worth increased by at least 3,500 percent in just one year.
For years, Democrats and their media allies dismissed questions about Omar’s wealth as “conspiracy theories.” Now, even the New York Times is admitting the Biden DOJ took them seriously enough to investigate.
