Pentagon Names Four Soldiers Killed in Kuwait Drone Strike During Operation Epic Fury

The Pentagon on Monday identified four of the six U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed in a March 1 drone attack in Kuwait while supporting Operation Epic Fury. The strike occurred at the Port of Shuaiba and remains under investigation.

All four were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa, which provides logistics and operational support to deployed forces. The fallen soldiers are:

  • Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Lakeland, Florida

  • Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota

  • Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska

  • Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of Des Moines, Iowa

Two additional soldiers killed in the attack have not yet been publicly identified.

Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general of U.S. Army Reserve Command, said the loss is deeply felt across the force.
“We honor our fallen Heroes who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten,” Harter said.

Service records show Khork previously served in the National Guard before commissioning as a military police officer in 2014, with deployments to Saudi Arabia, Guantánamo Bay, and Poland. Amor joined the Guard in 2005 and later transferred to the Army Reserve, deploying to Kuwait and Iraq. Tietjens enlisted in 2006 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and completed two deployments to Kuwait. Coady enlisted in 2023 as an Army IT specialist and was posthumously promoted from specialist to sergeant.

Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., said he was heartbroken over Tietjens’ death, calling the soldiers “American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.”

The Department of Defense said the soldiers were conducting support operations in the region when the unmanned aircraft system attack occurred, underscoring the growing threat posed by hostile drone warfare in active combat zones.
