The Senate just delivered another major win for President Donald Trump.
On Friday, senators confirmed 74 Trump administration nominees in a single package, clearing 95% of the civilian nominees currently awaiting floor consideration and giving the second Trump administration what officials describe as a historically rapid confirmation pace.
The nominees were approved en bloc on a 51-47 party-line vote, marking the fifth package of its kind and pushing the administration’s overall civilian confirmation rate to roughly 95%.
For a president trying to move an ambitious agenda through Washington, that matters.
Presidents can announce policies all day long. But policies do not implement themselves. They require people in the departments, agencies, boards and diplomatic posts responsible for carrying them out.
Trump is now getting those people into place at a remarkable speed.
The latest package includes more than a dozen ambassadors, along with executive officials for the Departments of Defense, Energy, Interior, State and Treasury.
The Senate also confirmed nominees to the National Labor Relations Board, National Transportation Safety Board and Consumer Product Safety Commission, as well as associate judges who will serve 15-year terms in the District of Columbia courts.
That is a wide swath of the federal government—and it is increasingly being filled by officials selected by the president rather than left vacant while Washington drags its feet.
The numbers tell the story.
With 74 more nominees confirmed, the Senate has now cleared approximately 95% of Trump’s civilian nominees who had been pending floor consideration. That pace is being hailed as the administration’s best confirmation record in a quarter century.
And there is an important political message buried in the vote.
The Senate is not simply processing paperwork. It is allowing Trump to build the administration voters elected him to lead.
After years in which presidential nominees could become trapped in Washington’s confirmation machinery, the second Trump administration is seeing its personnel move through the Senate with considerably less delay.
The 51-47 vote also makes the partisan divide impossible to miss. The package passed without bipartisan support, underscoring just how sharply divided Washington remains over the direction of the federal government.
But the confirmation tally is the bigger story.
A president cannot deliver on promises to strengthen national security, reshape federal agencies, protect American workers, secure the border, or advance an America First foreign policy without a government staffed by people prepared to carry out those priorities.
Trump now has another 74 nominees in place.
That is not just a Senate vote. It is the machinery of the federal government moving into position behind the mandate voters gave President Trump.
