Senate Republicans Outsmart Democrats Yet Again, Clearing the Path for Nearly 100 Trump Nominees

Senate Democrats tried it again — another round of procedural games, delays, and obstruction aimed at slowing down President Trump’s nominees. And once again, Senate Republicans walked right around them, proving that the Left’s stall tactics just aren’t cutting it anymore.

Just months ago, hundreds of President Trump’s nominees were stuck in a Democrat-made traffic jam, as the Left remained in full “resistance” mode. And earlier this week, the president himself blasted the outdated blue-slip tradition after the resignation of acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba. Democrats may love these old procedural loopholes, but Republicans have made it clear they’re done playing along.

Back in September, Leader John Thune and Senate Republicans changed the rules to stop the Democrat filibuster games. No more 60-vote threshold for these nominations — a straight majority would do just fine. And on Wednesday, they proved the strategy works again.

On a party-line vote of 51–47, Republicans moved forward a procedural vote to clear nearly 100 Trump nominees at once. Two GOP senators, Steve Daines and Rand Paul, didn’t vote — but Republicans still pushed it through without breaking a sweat. This marks the third time since September that the GOP has advanced one of these nomination blocs.

Among the nearly 100 nominees: former Rep. Anthony D’Esposito to serve as inspector general at the Department of Labor, along with James Murphy and Scott Mayer for the National Labor Relations Board. And that’s just a small slice — the nominees span almost every federal agency.

Of course, Democrats tried to derail the process again last week, with Sen. Michael Bennet objecting in yet another attempt to stall progress. But Republicans weren’t having it. They went nuclear — again — limiting the scope to sub-Cabinet-level posts and requiring only a simple majority. Problem solved.

Now the Senate is expected to hold a floor vote on these nominations next week, setting the stage for a massive wave of confirmations. And Republicans were more than happy to celebrate the victory, posting:

“We’re well on our way to confirming 400 Trump nominees this year.
Senate Republicans have confirmed more nominees this year than the first year of the Biden administration or Trump 1.0.”

Imagine that — actual efficiency in government. Must be driving Democrats crazy.

Good to see it!
