A bombshell revelation from a Minnesota Republican lawmaker suggests that the alleged marriage between Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and her own brother was an "open secret" in the state as far back as 2016. This staggering claim raises serious questions about why the Obama administration, which reportedly opened an investigation into the matter, seemingly allowed the issue to languish.

"This has been an open secret in Minnesota for many years," Robbins declared. "Everyone here has heard it and was not surprised by it."
The truth, according to Robbins, was often stifled by a chilling atmosphere of political correctness. While "Democrats felt it was just a political smear job by the Republicans, and most Republicans thought it was true," the prevailing fear meant that "anyone who raised it was called a racist and an Islamophobe."
"Every time someone said there was fraud in the Somali community, whether it was a politician or a whistleblower inside the agencies, they were called racist, they were called Islamophobic," Robbins explained. "In many cases, the whistleblowers were required to go to DEI training if they said anything." Such tactics are a classic playbook from the radical left, silencing dissent and legitimate inquiry under the guise of sensitivity.
Evidence pointing to alleged marital and immigration fraud surfaced when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) opened an investigation into Omar, whose real name, federal officials believe, is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. According to The New York Times, evidence existed that her marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, believed to be her brother, was fraudulent. Notably, Ahmed is now reportedly an academic in the United Kingdom, where he writes about his experience as a "gay man of the East African diaspora."
Another "stunning development," Robbins pointed out, was the discrepancy in Omar's last name. Ilhan had always presented herself as "Omar," yet the Nur Said Elmi name appeared in the federal investigation. This aligns with further evidence suggesting Omar's father—through whom she obtained U.S. citizenship in 2000, purportedly as a minor—also assumed a different identity to claim refugee status. The layers of alleged deception are indeed unsettling.
Omar's citizenship itself is now reportedly under scrutiny, separate from the alleged brother marriage, due to questions surrounding her age at the time she obtained it. It appears she may have been an adult, despite claiming minor status—another potential instance of immigration fraud that demands answers.
The critical question now being asked by Rep. Robbins targets the Obama administration directly: was there a deliberate effort to shield Omar as she ascended in Minnesota and then national politics? "If the Obama administration was looking into this, did they slow walk it so that the statute of limitations ran out?" Robbins pressed. "When did they start investigating it? And how long did it take them to conclude that it was too late to do anything?" These are questions that demand immediate, transparent answers for the American public.
Reports from Alpha News and Power Line first brought Elmi’s alleged fraudulent marriage to light approximately a decade ago. Alpha News indicated that a letter from then-Minnesota U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger "helped quiet allegations" that Elmi "married her brother in an immigration fraud scheme." Convenient, wouldn't you say? Today, Luger attempts to backtrack, claiming the letter "was never meant to say anything about the substance of the claims." The American people deserve more than convenient denials.
New York Times reporting confirmed that Ahmed received a provisional green card via his marriage to Ilhan. However, when officials requested more information about the marriage, Ahmed reportedly fled the country. This pattern of evasion speaks volumes.
In 2016, a local Fox affiliate article also raised questions about Elmi’s marriages but was suspiciously removed from the internet. A surviving snippet of that article, however, still states, "We aren’t the only ones who still have questions about the two men the DFL-endorsed House candidate has called her husband, without divorcing either." The persistent disappearance of inconvenient truths is a recurring theme when it comes to progressive figures.
The sheer audacity of these allegations, combined with a decade of alleged cover-ups and deliberate silencing, underscores a fundamental breakdown of accountability within our system. The America First movement stands for truth, transparency, and holding those in power—regardless of their political affiliation—to the highest standards of integrity. The American people deserve to know the full truth about Ilhan Omar's past and whether her rise was facilitated by a deliberate evasion of justice.
