Tom Homan Clears the Air: Trump Administration Not Backing Off on Deportations

Border czar Tom Homan stepped up to set the record straight, debunking rumors that the Trump administration is softening its stance on deportations of illegal aliens. Speaking with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Homan labeled those claims “untrue” and laid out the hard numbers: since President Trump took office, over 700,000 deportations have been carried out by Border Patrol and ICE combined. And no, this isn’t about random removals—it’s targeted at criminals and public safety threats.

“The President wants to de-escalate the situation and to set the record straight,” Homan said. “People are saying President Trump’s backing off on his promise of mass deportation. That’s just untrue.” He emphasized that the administration’s policy from day one remains the same: illegal presence in the U.S. is not tolerated, but arrests will be prioritized based on threat level.

Homan confirmed that deportations will continue, focusing first on criminals and public safety risks. “If you’re in the country illegally, you’re not off the table,” he said. “Just about 15 minutes ago, I checked the numbers. Over 700,000 deportations since Trump took office.”

The announcement comes in the wake of recent Border Patrol-related incidents in Minnesota, including the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, the latter during an encounter with ICE agents. In response, President Trump sent Homan to Minnesota to coordinate with state and local officials.

Homan reported meetings with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and top law enforcement officials to discuss local challenges. “We all agree that we need to support our law enforcement officers and get criminals off the streets,” he said. Trump echoed the sentiment, calling Homan “tough but fair” and promising he will report directly to the President.

Despite claims of “de-escalation,” Homan’s message is clear: deportations continue, public safety comes first, and President Trump is keeping his promise to enforce the law while prioritizing threats to American communities. One thing is certain—Trump’s border policy isn’t backing down anytime soon.
