Tom Homan Rejects Amnesty Push, Draws Line Against ‘DIGNIDAD Act’

President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, made it clear that the administration is holding firm against any form of amnesty, responding directly to questions about the proposed DIGNIDAD Act.

When asked about the bill, Homan declined to weigh in on pending legislation but reiterated a consistent message: “no amnesty.” According to him, that position has been clear since day one of the administration.

The proposal, championed by Maria Salazar, would grant green cards to approximately 2.5 million individuals classified as “DREAMers,” while offering renewable work permits to an estimated 10.5 million undocumented immigrants—effectively allowing long-term legal presence without full citizenship.

Salazar has been actively urging the White House to support the bill, framing it as a strategic move for the Republican Party’s future. In public remarks, she argued that passing such legislation could broaden political appeal, particularly among Hispanic voters, and counter long-standing criticisms from Democrats.

The divide highlights an ongoing tension within immigration policy debates: whether to prioritize strict enforcement or pursue broader legalization measures. For now, the administration’s stance appears unchanged—firmly opposing any pathway that could be interpreted as amnesty.
