In a stunning revelation, the Trump administration has located 25,000 migrant children who were “lost” after crossing the border alone during the Biden administration. This discovery comes amid ongoing concerns about the massive failure in vetting and tracking these vulnerable children.
Border Czar Tom Homan, a key figure in the Trump administration’s efforts to protect America’s borders, revealed that, under Biden’s watch, nearly 320,000 migrant children were released into the U.S. without proper accountability. A report last year from the inspector general highlighted that these children were placed with poorly vetted sponsors, many of whom had dubious connections. Some of these children were reportedly found in horrific conditions, including sex trafficking and forced labor, where they were enslaved, abused, and made to work long hours without pay.
"We’re not gonna stop looking for these children until we find every single one of them," Homan said Thursday on Fox News. "We’ve rescued thousands already, and we will continue this mission with unwavering commitment."
Tragically, Homan revealed that 27 of these children had died, highlighting the grave consequences of the Biden administration’s neglect. This horrifying statistic underscores why the Trump administration has made it a top priority to locate these children and bring them to safety.
As of May 2024, there were 291,000 migrant children who crossed the border unaccompanied, and they were never given future court dates, leaving authorities with no way to track their whereabouts. Another 32,000 children who had court dates failed to appear, compounding the crisis.
Whistleblowers from the Biden administration have come forward to expose the flawed vetting system that allowed children to be placed with potential traffickers. One whistleblower testified that she was retaliated against by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) after alerting supervisors to the placement of children with people who were clearly not their relatives.
The vetting process, according to these whistleblowers, was appallingly inadequate—consisting of a single phone call to the children 30 days later. By then, many could not be reached, and the children were already in danger.
Deborah White, another HHS whistleblower, spoke about the agency’s negligence, saying, “Children were not going to their parents. Children were being trafficked with billions of taxpayer dollars by a contractor failing to vet sponsors and process children safely, with government officials complicit in it.” White’s testimony described how the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) did not train staff to identify human trafficking or fraudulent documents. When she tried to alert officials, she was blocked and reprimanded.
As the Trump administration continues its efforts to track down these children, it’s clear that the Biden administration’s approach to migrant child safety has been a colossal failure. The search will not stop until every child is accounted for, and their safety is guaranteed. The Trump administration’s commitment to protecting America’s most vulnerable is stronger than ever, and we will continue to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
