President Donald Trump took victory laps Saturday after scientists involved in United Nations-backed climate modeling reportedly moved away from one of the most extreme global warming projections that had been heavily promoted for years by climate activists and politicians.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump didn’t hold back.
“GOOD RIDDANCE! After 15 years of Dumocrats promising that ‘Climate Change’ is going to destroy the Planet, the United Nations TOP Climate Committee just admitted that its own projections (RCP8.5) were WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!” Trump wrote.
The scenario in question, known as RCP8.5, has long been one of the most dramatic climate projections used in public debates, often cited in alarming headlines and catastrophic predictions about the future of the planet. Critics have argued for years that the model relied on unrealistic assumptions and worst-case conditions that were unlikely to actually occur.
Now, scientists appear to be moving away from relying so heavily on that projection in climate assessments — a shift that Trump and many conservatives see as validation after years of being attacked for questioning climate alarmism.
Trump accused Democrats and climate activists of using fear surrounding global warming to justify massive government spending, restrictive energy policies, and expanded federal control over the economy. Because apparently every crisis somehow ends with Americans paying higher taxes and driving more expensive cars.
Throughout his political career, Trump has consistently pushed for American energy independence, expanded domestic oil and gas production, and reduced regulations on U.S. energy industries. Supporters argue those policies strengthened the economy, lowered energy costs, and protected national security by reducing dependence on foreign energy sources.
The debate over climate policy remains one of the biggest political battles in America, with conservatives increasingly pushing back against what they describe as exaggerated predictions and economically damaging regulations.
For many Trump supporters, the news surrounding the RCP8.5 scenario reinforces a broader argument that fear-based narratives have been used for years to push policies that hurt working Americans while benefiting political elites and green energy interests.
At the same time, Trump’s response underscores how central energy policy has become to his America First agenda. His supporters view affordable energy, domestic production, and economic growth as essential pillars of national strength — especially at a time when inflation and energy prices continue affecting families across the country.
And with even some climate scientists now reassessing the most extreme projections, conservatives are feeling increasingly confident that common sense and realism may finally be making a comeback in the climate debate.
