Trump Cuts the Technocratic Gordian Knot — and the Elites Are Furious

“There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen.” Whoever first said it understood moments like this one — because the past week has delivered more real change than years of elite conferences, white papers, and “stakeholder discussions” ever did.

Start overseas. In Iran, the mullahs who’ve ruled since 1979 are wobbling under the weight of widespread popular revolt. For nearly five decades — ever since Jimmy Carter helped usher Ayatollah Khomeini into power under the naïve banner of “human rights” — Iran has been a persistent adversary and global menace. Every administration tried to “manage” the problem: symbolic gestures, baked goods, and even pallets of cash. Shockingly, none of it worked. Now even Democrats are condemning the regime, which is usually a strong sign they’ve finally read the writing on the wall.

In Venezuela, something even more dramatic happened. Dictator Nicolás Maduro was removed from power — and from the country — by U.S. special forces under President Donald Trump. The operation was swift, surgical, and devastatingly effective. American forces pierced advanced Chinese and Russian air defenses, neutralized hundreds of Maduro’s guards using high-tech sonic weapons, and pulled it off without losing a single American life. No endless occupation. No nation-building seminars. Just results.

Back at home, the Left is desperately trying to reboot the old Black Lives Matter playbook — this time against ICE. The difference? Black Americans aren’t buying it. Instead, the scenes are dominated by middle-aged white activists eager to block lawful enforcement against criminal illegal aliens. But the real headline is this: the raids are actually happening. For decades we were told nothing could be done about illegal immigration without a massive, pork-stuffed, amnesty-laden “bipartisan” bill. Turns out all you had to do was enforce the law.

Crime was spiraling out of control in cities like Washington, D.C., and Memphis. Trump sent in the National Guard. Problem addressed. In some cases, merely threatening to send them was enough to make local officials suddenly discover powers they’d apparently forgotten they had.

Then came the money. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed that up to 10% of the federal budget is lost to fraud every year. That’s hundreds of billions — possibly more. Elon Musk estimates over a trillion dollars annually, and recent revelations suggest he might be lowballing it. Everyone knew the system was rotten. No one did anything. Now, that’s changing too.

This is where the Gordian Knot comes in. The ancient legend tells of a knot so complex no one could untie it — until Alexander the Great simply cut it with his sword. Problem solved.

For decades, America’s institutional elite deliberately turned simple problems into impossibly complex ones. As political scientist Wilfred Reilly put it, ending crime and unwanted migration was always as simple as it looked to regular Americans — but endless “expert” noise was created to hide that fact.

Trump ignored the noise.

Trouble with Iran? Stop negotiating endlessly and remove the mullahs.
Trouble with illegal immigration? Close the border.
Trouble with a criminal dictator in Venezuela? Depose him.
Trouble with massive fraud? Arrest the fraudsters and shut off the money.

The people who built careers “managing” these crises never wanted them solved. Solving them would shut down the entire racket. Trump just cut the knot — cleanly, decisively, and unapologetically.

And that’s why the managerial class is panicking. Because once the public realizes problems can actually be fixed, not endlessly “addressed,” there’s no going back.

No wonder they hate him.
