Trump Set to Unveil Bold Plan to Cut Healthcare Costs — Ending ACA Surprises and Putting Americans Back in Control

President Donald Trump is gearing up to tackle one of the biggest burdens weighing on American families: skyrocketing healthcare costs. According to senior White House officials cited by MS Now, Trump will announce a major new framework—possibly as early as Monday—designed to stop the out-of-control premium hikes created under Obamacare and restore common sense to a system that’s been anything but affordable.

The announcement is expected to feature Trump alongside CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, a refreshingly competent voice in a bureaucracy that desperately needs leadership. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also hinted on Meet the Press that big healthcare news was coming this week—and now we know why.

The proposed legislation, titled the “Healthcare Price Cuts Act,” goes straight after the problems that Washington has ignored for years. First, it would put an end to the “surprise premium hikes” built into the ACA, the kind of overnight increases that blindside families and leave them wondering how a supposedly “Affordable” Care Act became anything but affordable.

Second, it would scrap the ACA’s “zero-premium” subsidies, which have long raised red flags for Republicans. These subsidies have created opportunities for so-called “ghost beneficiaries”—fraudulent policy holders who receive benefits without any real verification. Trump’s plan fixes that by requiring a small minimum payment to ensure eligibility. In other words: basic accountability… something the Left always seems allergic to.

One of the more innovative parts of Trump’s framework is a new deposit program designed to reward Americans who choose lower-premium health plans. The savings difference would be placed into a Health Savings Account funded by taxpayers, giving people more choice, more flexibility, and more ownership over their own healthcare dollars. Imagine that—Washington giving power back to the people.

The timing is crucial. ACA subsidies are set to expire at the end of the year, which would lead to massive cost spikes for nearly 22 million Americans. While a bipartisan group in the House has proposed extending Obamacare subsidies for another two years, nothing is guaranteed. Senate Republicans agreed to hold a mid-December vote, but whether it passes remains a question mark.

What’s not a question mark? President Trump’s determination to lead where others hesitate. He’s pushing for real solutions, real transparency, and real relief for millions of Americans who are tired of unpredictable bills and broken promises.

And if this plan moves forward, families across the country may finally see a healthcare system that works for them, not against them—a welcome shift and a positive sign of what’s possible when leadership is willing to challenge the status quo.
