U.S. Central Command launched a significant new round of strikes against Iran on Tuesday evening, hitting dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and along the Iranian coast.
According to CENTCOM, U.S. fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels conducted a seven-hour operation using precision munitions against Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and coastal defense systems. The goal was to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews in the critical waterway.
The strikes occurred on the same day that the U.S. naval blockade against vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas officially resumed at 4 p.m. ET.
CENTCOM stated that U.S. forces “remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief.”
This latest wave of attacks continues the Trump administration’s firm policy of sustained pressure on the Iranian regime following repeated IRGC assaults on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The combination of precision strikes and the active naval blockade signals a clear message that the United States will not tolerate Iranian disruption of international navigation.
