U.S. Central Command forces have initiated a new round of strikes against Iran at the direction of the Commander in Chief, aiming to further degrade Tehran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In its latest statement, CENTCOM said:
“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.”
This latest action builds on previous strikes that targeted more than 80 Iranian sites, including air defense systems, missile launchers, command centers, and dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels. The operations were triggered by Iran’s repeated ceasefire violations, particularly attacks on commercial ships in the strait.
The U.S. currently maintains more than 20 Navy warships in the broader Middle East region, supported by thousands of American service members, two carrier strike groups, and extensive air assets. This robust presence underscores Washington’s commitment to keeping critical maritime routes open and responding decisively to Iranian provocations.
President Trump has maintained a firm line during his ongoing NATO engagements in Turkey, combining military pressure with diplomatic efforts in the region. The situation remains fluid as CENTCOM continues operations to protect international navigation.
