U.S. Central Command forces began a new wave of strikes against Iran at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, marking the sixth consecutive night of offensive operations aimed at further degrading Iranian military capabilities.
In its official statement, CENTCOM said:
“At 2 p.m. ET today, U.S. forces began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran for the sixth consecutive night to further degrade Iranian military capabilities.”
This latest round appears broader than previous strikes, which were primarily focused on assets threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Observers note the operations now target wider Iranian military infrastructure.
The intensified campaign comes as the U.S. maintains a naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas, while continuing to act as the “Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz.” President Trump has repeatedly warned Iran that attacks on commercial vessels or attempts to close the critical waterway will be met with overwhelming force.
U.S. forces remain heavily postured in the region with more than 20 warships, multiple carrier strike groups, and thousands of American troops. The sustained pressure follows repeated violations by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of ceasefires and attacks on international shipping.
The situation in the Persian Gulf remains highly volatile, with oil prices continuing to rise amid fears of prolonged disruption to global energy flows.
