U.S. Central Command confirmed Monday that three U.S. F-15 fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait in what officials described as an apparent friendly fire incident during intense regional combat operations.
No American personnel were injured.
According to CENTCOM, the downings occurred amid active engagements involving attacks by Iran using aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones. In the confusion of the battle, Kuwaiti air defense systems mistakenly targeted the U.S. jets.
“All six aircrew ejected safely, have been recovered, and are in stable condition,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
Kuwaiti authorities acknowledged the incident, while U.S. commanders praised Kuwait’s rapid response and continued cooperation during the ongoing operation.
The incident is under investigation, and CENTCOM said more details will be released as they become available.
