U.S. Resumes Daylight Strikes on Iran

The United States carried out a new wave of airstrikes on Iran, including daylight operations, as part of an increasing tempo of attacks in retaliation for Tehran’s continued aggression in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command confirmed strikes hit dozens of targets over a seven-hour period, with additional daylight strikes occurring Wednesday. Targets included an Iranian army barracks belonging to the 388th Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Iranian officials reported at least seven soldiers killed and more than 260 people wounded across the country in the latest round of strikes. Iranian state media said the attack on the barracks involved at least 13 missiles.

The strikes coincide with the U.S. reimposing a naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard responded with a stark threat, warning that “the export of oil and gas from the region will be either for everyone or for no one.”

The escalating exchanges have effectively shattered a fragile interim ceasefire. Iran first closed the Strait of Hormuz at the start of the conflict in late February, severely disrupting global energy flows. Although some shipping resumed under U.S.-protected routes near Oman, repeated Iranian attacks on vessels have triggered this latest cycle of U.S. retaliation.

President Trump has warned Iran that failure to reach a deal will leave them with “nothing left,” while maintaining that the U.S. will act as the “Guardian of the Hormuz Strait.”

The situation remains highly volatile, with oil prices rising above $85 per barrel amid fears of further disruption to one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas trade. Regional mediators continue efforts to de-escalate, but the increasing tempo of U.S. strikes signals Washington’s determination to keep the critical waterway open.
