A man who gained national attention after a viral confrontation outside the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony was arrested outside the courthouse shortly after Anthony was found guilty of murder earlier this week.

According to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, at least two individuals were taken into custody Tuesday following the sentencing announcement as tensions escalated surrounding the highly publicized and racially-charged case.

One of those arrested was identified as Jerome Winston Parker, the same individual connected to the viral courthouse confrontation that circulated widely online. Authorities stated Parker was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant related to an alleged unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The arrests came as emotions remained elevated outside the courthouse after the verdict was delivered. Law enforcement moved quickly to maintain order and address any outstanding legal matters connected to individuals present at the scene.
