Woman Charged With Torching GOP Headquarters in Texas

A 21-year-old woman is facing arson and burglary charges in New Braunfels, Texas, after allegedly trying to burn down a county Republican Party headquarters. Grace Carol Brown, 21, was arrested Thursday by the New Braunfels Police Department after employees at the Comal County Republican Party headquarters discovered the building had been broken into and a small fire had been set, according to a police release.

Workers arriving at the headquarters found a broken window and evidence of a fire inside the building. The New Braunfels Fire Marshal and the FBI assisted local police with the investigation. Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George called the incident “troubling” and praised authorities for their “swift response.” Apparently, smashing windows and lighting fires is now considered political expression by some people.

“The Republican Party of Texas condemns the criminal break-in and fire targeting the Comal County Republican Party headquarters in New Braunfels,” George said in a statement. “Acts like this are troubling and should concern all who value peaceful civic engagement.” He added that similar acts of vandalism and intimidation have occurred elsewhere in the country, pointing to a growing and unacceptable trend.

“We thank God that no one was injured and that the damage to the building was limited,” George continued. He also expressed gratitude to the New Braunfels Police Department for their quick response and to Comal County Republican Party Chairwoman Anita Valdez for her leadership during the incident.

Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters placed blame on political rhetoric from Democrats, saying on X that “Democrats’ disgusting rhetoric has led to another violent attack.” He noted that no one was hurt in the attack on the Comal County GOP headquarters.

New Braunfels officials declined to comment further when contacted.

The attack comes amid a broader pattern of incidents targeting Republican Party offices since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025. The New Mexico Republican Party headquarters was set on fire in March 2025, with a suspect charged by the Department of Justice for that attack as well as for an arson attack on a Tesla dealership. In Prince William County, Virginia, a Republican headquarters was vandalized on July 4 with graffiti and a liquid believed to be urine. In Overland Park, Kansas, an attempted arson at the Johnson County Republican Party headquarters caused minor damage to a sidewalk.

Other conservatives have also been targeted by political violence. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed during a debate event on Sept. 10, 2025, in Utah. Independent journalists Nick Sortor and Cam Higby were also targeted by rioters while reporting on efforts to disrupt ICE operations in January.

Once again, law enforcement moved quickly, the suspect was arrested, and no one was seriously hurt. The damage was limited, the building still stands, and accountability is already underway. In the face of intimidation and chaos, the rule of law held firm—and that’s a reminder that order, justice, and resilience still win in the end.
